The program aims to provide young civil engineering students the opportunity to experience first hand what it is like to work in the construction sector in the UAE through a combination of practical and theoretical training sessions over a 6 week summer period. A total of 12 students are attending the program, with 6 coming from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CIE) at Syracuse University in the United States of America, and 6 from the School of Engineering at the AmericanUniversity in Dubai (AUD). The program will involve daily site visits to DCC’s projects and study sessions at the company’s headquarters. “The DSIP embodies our commitment to education through supporting students who will hopefully become leaders in the construction sector in the future. We feel that by investing in young engineering students at an early stage, we can benefit the construction industry in the UAE in the long term, while the program also helps encourage cultural understanding between the groups of students themselves,” said Abdallah Yabroudi, CEO of DCC.
